چکیده

An analytic model for reversal field versus pulse time in a fine magnetic grain has been developed for the case when the external magnetic field H0 is parallel to the axis of uniaxial anisotropy. The expressions include both thermal fluctuations and magnetization dynamics. Therefore application is for fields both less than and greater than the intrinsic uniaxial anisotropy field HK . For the case of 2H0 /HK.1 the mean first passage time from the initial saturated state to the thermodynamically equilibrium reversed state is calculated. For the case of 2H0 /HK,1 we calculate the mean first passage time from the thermodynamically equilibrium state of the metastable well to the thermodynamically equilibrium stable reversed state. It is shown that simple Néel–Arrhenius analysis is applicable for times greater than at least 100/agHK . © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-8979~00!83508-2#

The reversal mechanism and coercivity of permanent magnetic materials

The underlying mechanism of coercivity in permanent magnets has been a topic of intense interest for many years. It is motivated by the fact that the measured coercivity approaches only 20%–40% of the theoretical nucleation fields as derived from micromagnetic theory. We address this problem by proposing an analytical model, within the framework of the micromagnetic approximation, to examine th...

Dependence of magnetization reversal on the crystallite size in MnBi thin films: Experiment, theory, and computer simulation.

A micromagnetic model is proposed to explain the magnetization reversal of thermally evaporated MnBi thin films. The model assumes that the films consist of grains on a square lattice with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. In order to describe the magnetic reversal of a particular grain, dipole coupling, wall energy, Zeeman energy, and an energy barrier for the reversal of a single grain are t...

Reversal mechanism in permanent magnetic materials

The phenomenon of magnetization reversal in a hard magnet is studied analytically within a framework of a simplified energy minimization model for a two grain system. The transition region ~a domain wall-like moment structure! is found to play a crucial role in nucleating a reversed domain and in the subsequent formation of a domain wall near the grain boundary. This is shown to result in a con...

Magnetic structure and hysteresis in hard magnetic nanocrystalline film: Computer simulation

Three-dimensional micromagnetic simulations are used to study the effect of crystallographic textures on the magnetic properties of uniaxial nanocrystalline films of hard magnetic materials with arbitrary grain shapes and size distributions. The correlation lengths ~effective ferromagnetic exchange interaction radius and domain wall width! are assumed to be smaller than the typical grain size. ...

Micromagnetism and high temperature coercivity of MnBiÕAl multilayers

The micromagnetic properties of multilayered MnBi/Al films have been investigated and compared to pure MnBi thin films. Pure MnBi films reveal an anomalous increase of the high temperature coercivity, which has been explained on the basis of a hybrid domain wall pinning model. The multilayer-type preparation of MnBi/Al thin films results in significantly reduced MnBi particle size of approximat...
